๐Ÿ‹ Cocktails with Colleen: Limoncello Lemon Drop Martini

This cocktail is sunshine in a glassโ€”and one of those drinks that instantly tells your guests,ย โ€œTonight is going to be fun.โ€

The Limoncello Lemon Drop Martini is bright, citrusy, and dangerously easy to love. Itโ€™s refreshing without being too sweet, elegant without being fussy, and perfect for everything from a dinner party kickoff to a casual girlsโ€™ night in.

And pleaseโ€”donโ€™t skip rimming the glass.
That tiny extra step takes this cocktail from good to exceptional. It adds texture, balances the citrus, and makes the whole drink feel just right.

Just a friendly reminder: if you drink six of theseโ€ฆ you might need a ride home. ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿธ Why This One Always Wins

  • Bright, lemon-forward flavor that feels fresh and celebratory
  • Limoncello adds smooth sweetness without overpowering
  • Instantly elevates the mood of any gathering
  • Looks gorgeous in a martini glass
  • Guestsย alwaysย ask for the recipe

This is a go-to โ€œwelcome cocktailโ€ for a reasonโ€”it sets the tone before the first bite hits the table.

๐Ÿ‹ Limoncello Lemon Drop Martini

ยผ cup sugar for rimming glasses
1 lemon cut in half
2 ounces limoncello
1 ounce vodka

  1. Place the sugar in a small dish and set aside.
  2. Juice one half of lemon to measure ยฝ ounce, reserving the juiced half. Slice the other half into wheels for garnishing.
  3. Run the juiced lemon half along the rim of the glass, then place in sugar to coat, twisting the glass as needed, then set aside.
  4. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the limoncello, vodka and reserved lemon juice. Seal the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously.
  5. Use a strainer to strain into a martini glass or small wine glass and garnish with a lemon wheel.

โœ… Easy, Easier, Easiest Options

Because cocktails should feel fun, not stressful.

โœจ Easy: Use bottled lemon juice instead of fresh-squeezedโ€”still delicious and much faster.

โœจ Easier: Pre-rim the glasses earlier in the day and store them in the fridge so theyโ€™re ready to go.

โœจ Easiest: Skip the shaker entirely and use a high-quality store-bought lemon martini mixโ€”just add limoncello and chill.

Remember: it doesnโ€™t have to be perfectโ€”it just has to feel celebratory.

๐Ÿฅ‚ When to Serve It

  • As a welcome drink to kick off the evening
  • For birthdays, brunches, or girlsโ€™ nights
  • Anytime you want to turn โ€œjust dinnerโ€ intoย an occasion

โœจ Welcome to 2026: The Year of Entertaining (with a Small โ€œeโ€)

Happy New Yearโ€”and welcome to 2026!

This year, weโ€™re doing something different. This is the year of Entertaining with a small โ€œe.โ€

So what does that actually mean?

It means focusing on connection over perfection.
It means great meals shared with people you loveโ€”without the pressure of magazine-worthy spreads or elaborate tablescapes.
It means the not-necessarily-an-occasion dinner party.

Small โ€œeโ€ entertaining isnโ€™t about impressing anyone. Itโ€™s about being together.
