Taking My Power Back

Ch-ch-ch-changesWhere do I begin?  After a couple of frustrating days at Job#2, an insightful conversation with Bill, and thinking about it all weekend, I told my manager yesterday that I will be leaving.  I was thoughtful and gave 5 weeks notice so they can find someone to replace me and train them.  I don’t mind, after all, because they were more than generous with me when dad passed away last year.

Here’s what happened… in a conversation with Bill about income, I mentioned that I earn as much each month from Job#1 than I do from Job#2 and Job#3 combined.  That was a real eye-opener for him.  A few nights later, he suggested I think about leaving Job#2, up my hours to 4 days each week at Job#3 and then dedicate one day each week to Job#1.  Up until now, I’ve been working around 35 hours between Jobs #2 & #3 and spending any extra time each evening and on weekends on Job#1 and let’s face it, it was suffering.  I was too exhausted from being on my feet all day, coming home and making dinner, doing the bare minimum required just to get by and it showed.

So yesterday morning I decided to take my power back.  I walked in and immediately told the manager.  She took it extremely well, was not surprised whatsoever and ended up calling 3 applicants to set up interviews.  And let’s face it, she’s needed to hire additional staff anyway for a while now.

After my conversation with Bill, the original plan was to do it in June.  That would give me more time for fun like playing golf and hanging around our pool and possible a little getaway!  But driving in yesterday, I thought, “Why put off the inevitable?”

Bill was traveling yesterday and was a little shocked when I told him that I gave notice so quickly and he admired me for it.  Sometimes I’m not the best at standing up for myself.  Then I dropped on him that I planned to take today off and focus on tonight’s PC party.  I am still fighting this cold after 10 days and I need to focus (in addition to the fact that it’s the last day of the month and we have to get our numbers in!)

This morning when I woke up, I started up my daily Shine text (if you don’t have it on your phone or tablet, GET IT NOW!)  Here is the image that popped up:

It definitely was confirmation that I’m doing the right thing in taking today off and after reading it, I determined the first thing I would do would be to come here and write after I called Apple Support, answered email, cleaned up the kitchen and took out the recycling.

Which leads me to other other things I’ve been thinking!  I’ve been cooking so much and wanting to share all of that but where is the time to do it?

My coach says that when we say “I don’t have enough…” it just means we aren’t prioritizing properly.  When I am finally on my new schedule, I will dedicating that time to working on Job#1 and creating content for this blog and my YouTube channel.

In the meantime, you can see what I’ve been cooking over on Instagram and even more things going on with me on my Facebook page.

Next up, breakfast, then grocery shopping for my party tonight, then hope to relax and brainstorm.

Life is good!

Today is my annual PSA for PHPT! Having high calcium is NOT good for you! Primary hyperparathyroidism is often goes undiagnosed before signs or symptoms of the disorder occur. When symptoms do occur, they're the result of damage or dysfunction in other organs or tissues. Symptoms may be so mild and nonspecific that they don't seem related to parathyroid function, or they may be severe. The ONLY way to diagnose PHPT is through a blood test that must be requested by YOU! It is NOT bundled in to regular blood tests. Please be aware of the range of signs and symptoms as I thought the ones I had were from "life". The symptoms are:
